Hurrah for Sigs!

I know it's not really an issue so much on this forum, but I have done something truly magical* - I have waved my oh-so-sparkly wand and made it so that if your signature exceeds a certain pixel limit, it automatically gets put into a nice little scroll box so you can keep your sig without spoiler tags, without stretching the page for everyone else and without having to choose between your favourite images.

I am truly amazing, bask in my greatness, etc etc.















*Ok, so Steve wrote the code but I do a great copy and paste so screw you guys

What is the exact pixel limit? Asking so that myself and others can alter our signatures to avoid the scrollbar.

We've got a universal limit across our three main forums (DMC, REN and here) - the main reason has been that particularly on some forums, the sigs have been bigger than the posts in length. We have an automatic resizer for width but not length and the sheer number of images being uploaded is making it really difficult for some people to browse - especially if browsing via mobile internet or with a slower connection. I've got stupid fast broadband and even I have trouble sometimes when there are large sigs on display.

It's a compromise - limits are often ignored either through stubborness or lack of awareness so to prevent having to disable sigs altogether, this is a fair alternative. The current limit is 250 high by 500 wide - which is more than enough, really. Like I said, people here don't tend to have massive sigs but there are one or two of you especially who are regular posters and have very long signatures which take up a lot of the page when scrolling down to read posts. It's either have this option or disable signatures altogether which I think would be a huge shame.

Would I be one of those by chance? It never really occurred to me, but after I added the terrapin down there it really does make it pretty long/tall.

Thanks for the change, Angel. I remember I had to scroll way too much - which became an annoyance - a year ago or so. Much better like this.
