I was reading though the code of this game on Fabletlcmods.com and it made me realise how many areas were cut from the game that was originally planned to be in it!!!. Everyone knows about the obvious ones such as Dragoncliff but a few things that did surprise me. Brightwood and Bloodstone were in the coding but ended up as the areas we know and love in Fable 2. Others areas among many that interested me were Spookwood, Spring Wood, and Orchard Farm Mine?. I just wondering what cut area interested any of you guys the most?.

SpookWood sounds interesting, lots of content didn’t make final release and fascinating to read through what remained hidden in there and what was totally cut.

The coding has many fascinating areas and whole chunks of interesting things that was cut from the final release. If everything that was originally planned was put into the game, the whole thing could have been similar in size to an Elder Scrolls game. I definitely agree with you that Spookwood sounded interesting and there was tons in the coding that describes what this area would have been like!. Bloodstone was going to simply be a bandit tavern, so I’m glad that they turned it into something much better in Fable 2. My personal favourite area though, was how the original Darkwood was going to have giant spiders crawling about. The massive cobwebs and underground burrows was in the coding as well as the mean looking creatures themselves. I just wish that Lionhead Head had given us more info on all this cut content, I guess that we will never know now!!!. Maybe with a possible Fable 4 in the works, some of these lost ideas will reappear?.

I was looking at some old concept art of Fable today and spotted a Hero cut from the game called the Bloody Piper. There’s nothing that I could find in the coding that’s left of this Hero unfortunately but he did intrigue me. A part from the Darkwood Spiders there was also the Giant Lobsters and Scorpion Queen cut from the game as well. Such a shame really as these creatures were complete or near completion and were just waiting to be put in. I was wondering if u guys thought that these cut creatures and cut areas would have added to Fable or were better off left out?.

Some would have made sense like Spiders/Scorpion Queen (as there was a wasp queen) but maybe not so much giant Lobsters.

Yes, I often wondered where some of these missing creatures would have been planned in. My hunch is that the Spiders would have been in Darkwood because of the Spider related stuff in the coding. The Scorpion Queen would have probably appeared around Knothole Glade. Your right about the giants Lobster though, I really can’t imagine where they would be too?. They must have been important though because they were almost game ready and there is even a Lobster trophy. Pretty weird, the areas they were in must have been heavy cut out?.

Sounds like something that was conjured up in a meeting and something that could have been funny but when it come down to it, it just didnt fit the overall tone and theme. Lobsters themselves could have appeared to catch and be used like the fish as a health boost but a giant one maybe not, unless it appeared after catching too many or something along those lines as could have made for a funny side quest.

There is an interesting quote in the Fable Anniversary Game Guide that says “ At one point, Fable was going to feature giant lobsters. They were crazy creatures and it’s probably for the best that we didn’t include them in the end “ . Definitely think that these creatures were best off left on the cutting room floor in honestly. I do love your idea about using them as some sort of side quest though Dark Draken lol. That would have been hilarious.
